Creative Critical Reflection: The Reckoning Fallacy- Planning and draft 1

Creative Critical Reflection:

Question 1: How does your product challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Use of media: Director commentary to ensure the explanation of themes, conventions, and characters, that convey messages, are fully explored with their placement and/or development.

- The darkening of the wharf's lightning in post to create a low lighting effect/convention.
-The harsh/dangerous environment of the wharf portrays a sense of danger (Convention) but other environments are the usual (challenged)
-The black and white flashbacks- sense almost confusion, questioning for audience: Why is it black and white? (convention)
-Many jump shots creates sense of uneasiness (convention)
- Not many Low/high angles to show dominance (Chalenged)
-Audio: Background soundtracks- very suspicions at first then moves to a more thrilling track creates uneasiness and suspense. INCLUDE when it changes and why. (convention)
-Psychological Thriller: usually conflict inside head only or at first, our film show conflict outside and then an inner conflict as a result. Creates further tension (Challenged)
- Protagonist is also antagonist along with bully (Challenged)
-Protagonist female (Challenge)

-BULLYING: major theme, is it okay, is the response justified? Who is the true victim? How do you respond to bullying.
-Society as a whole: It is ultimately our own decision about the choices we make- not anyone elses. No matter your background everyone goes through difficult matters, Georgia recognises this at the end, "There's something wrong with me"
-Women: Suppressed by males, shown through the angles during bullying but when she goes to suppress Jacob she takes it too far.

Question 2:How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Use of media: Prezi as it show how this one final product can be distributed, shown and interpreted in multiple different ways.

-ENGAGING:
~ Relates with target audience with actor similar to their age and real events in their like such as school, bullying, social media, ect.
~ Use of effects with different filters and sound: Interesting and intreaging; draws audience in.
~ Strange mise-en-scene, wharf: not a common setting.

-YouTube: realistically, can be shared to other media platforms and therefore gain a bigger representation and because the younger demographic is usually on social media our target audience could view easily.
-Trailer played beginning of other thriller movies at cinema.

Question 3: How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Use of media: Powtoons as can show the continual process of development through the switching of slides.

-Camera: able to have more of a go, learnt to focus as shot out of focus.
- Audio with the recordings of the voice over: Experimenting with what sounds most natural in post as audio didn't work during shoot.
-Positioning of lighting indoors in smaller spaces, trial and error
-CREDITS: Ashlee in hospital leaving me to figure out and deal with. Working with fonts in Photoshop and using the 3D option, chaning to fit screen, working with fonts.
-LOGO: Biggest challenge, had to be creative, originally wanted light leaks- didn't work, creating the lights and actual titles.
-Teamwork, learning how to communicate effectively with others and collaborate fairly but also quickly.

Question 4: How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware and online- in this project?

Use of media: Unsure of media use yet

To be developed
